Born and raised in San Diego, Sophia was a State Cup winning soccer player before discovering volleyball at age 12. She played Varsity Volleyball at La Costa Canyon High for 3 seasons, and was a CIF Open Division Finalist. During her years playing for Coast, Sophia had a number of accolades in her final U18 season including placing 1st in SoCal and 5th in the Open division at Nationals.
Sophia’s college career began at Marist college where she had a stellar freshman season. She was named to the South Bay Battle All Tournament team, was a 4-time MAAC Libero of the Week and was also named to the MAAC All-Rookie team. Wanting to be closer to home, Sophia transferred to the University of Southern California in 2020 where she finished the season as the starting libero. After a year in the D1 program, Sophia decided to retire from D1 volleyball and transition to club volleyball. Her last two years at USC were spent playing on the club team with her career culminating with her team winning the 2023 NCVF Open Division National Championship and Sophia being named to the Division One All Tournament 1st Team.
Since graduating from USC with a major in Psychology and a minor in Occupational Science, Sophia moved back to San Diego and has been coaching at Coast and Canyon Crest Academy. In her free time she also loves to paint, bake, play beach volleyball, hang out with friends and is an advocate for mental health. She advocates for players to learn not only the physical skills of volleyball but also the mental aspects of volleyball. Helping players gain confidence on the court, deal with high pressure situations, and focus on consistency.
