Andy Kim has been a part of the COAST family for over a decade. Originally from Garden Grove, Andy moved to San Diego to attend UCSD where he earned his B.S in Electrical Engineering. He was introduced to volleyball at his hometown church and immediately felt connected. Andy is a multi sport athlete but believes volleyball is the sport of a lifetime.
Andy’s playing experience has taught him the importance of discipline, persistence and commitment. A team captain for multiple season brought many life lessons, helping understand the importance of integrity and character. These are just a few topics he believes are important for players to become an independent athlete. He is excited to share his knowledge and help future athletes understand what it takes to achieve their goals.
Early in his career, Andy coached at Santana High and was a part of consecutive League Championships. He then transferred over to La Costa Canyon High where he assisted the Mavericks to a CIF Championship and multiple CIF Finals.
At COAST, Andy has coached a range of elite teams and age groups. His experience covers Junior National teams, assisting top ranked Open level teams, private lessons, leading youth camps and clinics. His teams have consistently qualified for Junior Nationals with his most current success winning the Gold Medal with 16-2s in 2021.
Andy enjoys staying active, eating Korean BBQ, teaching math and relaxing with his dog @the.deagle
