After playing collegiality and receiving a. B.S. in Sports Medicine, Rachel moved to Hawaii with her husband, who was stationed at an Army base on Oahu. It was there that she was lucky enough to start her club coaching adventure.
They moved back to San Diego in 2015 and Rachel began coaching at ECVBA and eventually moved into the Coaching Coordinator position. This will also be her 4th season as the head coach at San Diego Christian College, a small NAIA school in the competitive GSAC conference.
Rachel loves her German Shepherd, watching basketball, and gummy candies… more than she’d like to admit.
“For me, volleyball is so much more than a sport. It gave me the skills and relationships that I will use for the rest of my life. I find purpose seeing the mental, physical and emotional growth of my players within the short season and even years later. I love making a difference in players’ lives and showing them they are capable of so much more than what they may believe.”
“Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.” -John Wooden, one of my inspirations.
