Originally from Phoenix, Arizona Katie moved to San Diego after graduating from UC Riverside. Katie played as a setter at UC Riverside, finishing her indoor career ranked 7th and 3rd in Highlanders history in assists and assists per set.
Following graduation from UC Riverside, Katie moved to San Diego and spent seven years teaching 2nd grade before making the switch to coaching full time. She is entering her eighth-year coaching at Coast, and her third year coaching high-school volleyball at The Bishop’s School.
At COAST, Katie has coached a range of elite teams and age groups. She has head coached and assisted top ranked Open level teams. Her teams have consistently qualified for Junior Nationals, with a recent highlight being winning a Silver Medal with the Coast 13-1s.
As a coach, Katie strives to create a culture where every individual is empowered to become the best player, person, and teammate possible. She believes that team sports teach valuable lessons and life skills, and looks for opportunities to make her players’ experience about more than the game of volleyball.
When not coaching, Katie enjoys playing beach volleyball, cooking, and traveling with her husband Dmitriy (a fellow COAST coach) and their beloved dog, Nash.
