Coaching: Girls
Nilay Karaagac is an elite volleyball setter with a distinguished career spanning over two
decades. Starting her professional journey at the age of 15, Nilay played as a setter for some of
Turkey’s top clubs. Throughout her 23-year career as a setter, she achieved the following notable
international successes:
2011 – CEV Champions League – Gold Medal
2011 – FIVB Women’s Club World Championship – Silver Medal
2012 – World Grand Prix – Bronze Medal
2013 – CEV Volleyball Cup – Silver Medal
2014 – CEV Volleyball Cup – Gold Medal
2015 – CEV Champions League – Gold Medal
2015 – FIVB Women’s Club World Championship – Gold Medal
2015 – European Championship – Bronze Medal
2016 – FIVB Women’s Club World Championship – Gold Medal
2017 – CEV Champions League – Bronze Medal
2018 – Challenge Cup – Silver Medal
2021 – CEV Volleyball Cup – Silver Medal
In 2022, Nilay retired from professional play and relocated to San Diego with her husband and
young son. She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Francis Parker High
School girls’ volleyball team, where she led the team to a San Diego Division 1 championship in
her first year. At Coast Volleyball, Nilay served as the head coach for the 16s girls’ team and
assistant coach for the 17s girls’ team, achieving second place at the Triple Crown and a runner-
up finish at the Red Rock Rave Volleyball Tournament.
With extensive experience working alongside some of the most prominent coaches in the
international volleyball community, Nilay is dedicated to passing on her knowledge and
expertise to the next generation of players. Her competitive and success-driven mindset,
combined with a commitment to nurturing strong and character-driven athletes, defines her
coaching philosophy.
