Boys / College Placement

from junior to college

Club volleyball can be a journey that spans many years. Often the junior volleyball experience culminates in an offer to continue one’s playing career in college. COAST has placed over 420 in collegiate programs and not only do we prepare players with the skills to succeed at the next level but also provide guidance to families embarking on the college recruitment journey.

As a member of COAST, there are valuable resources at your disposal to assist in the recruitment process.

How did playing club prepare you for being a collegiate athlete?

The thing that helped me most from club (especially Coast) was becoming a more competitive athlete and fighting to earn a starting spot. Freshman year is really hard because to get any time on the court in a game you need to show that you deserve it every minute of practice. Having a similar environment in club really helped me earn my minutes.

Biggest surprise of the transition from high school to college?

School is HARD. Juggling academics, volley, and extracurricular is way different in college.

Best advice or tips now having gone thru the college recruitment process?

The better your academics are, the easier it is to get recruited. With a higher GPA and test score, you become available to more colleges and, and an easy recruit for most. If the coach doesn’t have to battle admissions about academics, it’s really just that much easier. Especially for D3 teams where the coach doesn’t have as much pull with admissions. Study hard and the grades will come easier than you’d think.
