Having been involved with volleyball since the early age of 11, Said Souikane played on the Moroccan National Team which participated in the African Volleyball Championships in 1990, 1991 and 1993…winning bronze, silver and bronze medals respectively for his country. After coming to the United States, Said participated in the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP). Said also played competitive beach volleyball internationally, including tournaments in Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and Switzerland. In 2007, he joined World Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Federation.
On the coaching side Said has coached high school, college, club and professional AVP players for more than 15 years. In the summers of 2009 and 2013, Said coached the US Men’s National Deaf Olympics team in Taipei, Taiwan and Sofia, Bulgaria.
The US Men’s team won silver in the Taipei Olympics. Said serves as COAST’s supervising coach an dheading up the mentor training program. In 2012 Said’s COAST 16-1 team won the gold medal at the Junior Olympics and finished as Prep Volleyball’s number 1 team and national champions. In 2014 Said joined the La Costa Canyon Girls Volleyball coaching staff and in 2015 he became head coach of the volleyball program.
