Originally from Orange County, Olivia was first introduced to volleyball as a sand sport. She instantly fell in love with the defensive aspects of the game, although she spent her first few years training indoors as an offensive player. During her club experience, Olivia played for multiple high level teams at Tstreet Volleyball Club as well as 949 Volleyball Club as a libero and defensive specialist. She also trained heavily with Tamarack Beach Volleyball Club for over 2 years.
As per her sand experience, Olivia wants to bring the same level of discipline, patience, and “reading” skills to the indoor court. She is a huge advocate for indoor players to step foot in the sand to help increase their skills and versatility.
Olivia is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Sports Psychology and Development. She believes that the mental health of athletes is extremely important. Olivia seeks to create a compassionate yet structured atmosphere that allows her players to think creatively, to be actively involved in discussions, and that pushes athletes’ boundaries to help them discover more about themselves.
Olivia believes coaching is not just teaching skills, but also teaching players how to be mentally strong and to use their knowledge to compete. Throughout the season she involved her athletes in individual mindfulness training, goal tracking, journaling, and team mindfulness work to challenge and strengthen each player mentally.
In her free time, Olivia enjoys learning and reading about the mind, cooking at home, going on hikes and walks, and listening to music.
