Raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Mia started playing volleyball for her 5th-grade school team. At the time, Mia’s first love was basketball but it wasn’t until 7th grade that Mia decided to play volleyball competitively and never looked back.
Mia ended up being a four-year starting libero at St. Mary’s High School. During her freshman and sophomore seasons, she made the 5A All-State Honorable Mention team. In her junior season, she made the 5A Division 1 Section 1 Second Team. For her senior year, Mia completed her high school career by marking the Division 1 Section 1 First Team and finished as the second in Arizona for the highest amount of digs. Mia still currently holds the all-time dig record at St. Mary’s.
Mia went on to play at Arizona State University where she played as a starting defensive specialist. During her time as a Sun Devil, she was able to be a part of two NCAA tournament appearances and big-time wins over USC, Hawaii, and Stanford (just to name a few). Mia graduated from ASU in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Communications and 2019 with a Master’s in Sports Law and Business.
After college, Mia decided to go into the coaching world to still be a part of volleyball. She began her coaching career at Arizona Sky where she coached 13s, 15s and 18s. Mia was able to have both her 13s and 15s to top 10 finishes in the region. As well as leading her 13-2s to a trip to nationals. She also got to experience leading Sky’s 18-1s team to nationals by being named interim coach.
During her free time, Mia loves to play volleyball and basketball, working out and watching Phoenix Suns games. Currently, Mia is the JV coach at Del Norte High School.
