From the city of Princeton, New Jersey, Lucia moved to San Diego in elementary school and started playing indoor volleyball in seventh grade. She became passionate for the sport, loving her role as the defensive specialist on her school and club teams. She played for COAST for 5 years on elite teams as the DS/libero and is also her high school’s, Canyon Crest Academy libero.
Lucia assisted Said and Lauren last year on the 13-1s, building great team-culture and positive energy on and off the court. She wants to ignite the same competitiveness, “reading” skills, and grit to players.
When coaching, she puts emphasis on positive talk and increasing mental resilience. She believes that other than the excitement of competition, volleyball brings life-skills like teamwork, communication, quick-thinking, and time management and she works to foster them in her players.
Lucia enjoys hiking, skiing, listening to music, and playing at open gym during her free time.
