Going into his 6th full year of coaching with COAST Volleyball Club, Jake continues on as the Club’s Co-Director and Boys College Placement Coordinator. For the last 5 years, Jake has served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for UC San Diego Men’s Volleyball program. Jake played a key role in the UCSD program’s transition from Division II to Division I in 2017 when UC San Diego joined the Big West Conference. During his time with UCSD, Jake has participated with USA Volleyball National Team Development Program. In the next 5 seasons, UCSD emerged as a consistent presence among the nation’s top 10 DI Volleyball Programs.
Jake grew up in the South Bay where his dad got him into volleyball. Jake went on to play volleyball on scholarship at Park University a program that went on to play in a national championship. Jake went from being the team’s captain as a player to coach where the school won its first national championship.
Before returning to San Diego, Jake played professionally overseas in Austria and Israel. Now a fixture in the San Diego club scene Jake has projected over 50 COAST Boys into the Division I college game, most recently 1st team All-American Ethan Champlin of UCLA. When he’s not at the club, Jake enjoys surfing, golfing, live music, and time with his girlfriend, Raeann.
