With 14 years of coaching experience, Charley is committed to developing athletes both on and off the volleyball court. He believes the most successful players are built through strong fundamentals, a high volleyball IQ, confidence, accountability, and a positive team culture. His goal is to create an environment where athletes are challenged to compete, encouraged to grow, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Charley has coached at both the high school and club levels throughout San Diego, helping athletes compete at some of the highest levels in the nation. As both a head coach and assistant coach, he has guided multiple teams to qualify for the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship (GJNC) and has been part of several Top 10 finishes in the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA). As an assistant coach, he helped lead a team to a Top 10 finish in the Open Division at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship.
His high school coaching experience includes roles at Monte Vista High School (2012–2019), Canyon Crest Academy (2020–2024), La Costa Canyon High School (2024–2025), and University City High School (2025–Present). At COAST Volleyball Club, Charley currently serves as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach, working with athletes to develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the game.
Although basketball was his first competitive sport, Charley discovered volleyball in high school and quickly developed a passion for the game that grew into a lifelong commitment to coaching. The lessons he learned through both sports continue to shape his coaching philosophy, emphasizing hard work, teamwork, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Above all, Charley is passionate about helping athletes become confident competitors, supportive teammates, and leaders who carry the lessons they learn through volleyball into every aspect of life.
